your light will rise in the darkness.

I didn't get my passage for this week. So. I will write about a passage I read last night. Ok? Ok.

9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
"If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,

10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.

11 The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.

12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old foundations;
you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.

[isaiah 58]

I did a little summin called inductive bible reading.
I just wanted to highlight (literally, too) verse 10:
your light will rise in the darkness.

Lets take that apart, shall we?

your: God. duh.
light: light. duh.
will: future tense. it's a promise. it will happen.
rise: rise. duh.
but with the previous word, it's a promise that we will rise. duh.
in the darkness: this is what caught my attention. it doesn't just say, "your light will rise", but, "your light will rise...in the darkness".

A lot of things have been happening around me: my friends, my fellowship, my campus. It's all so...surreal. I think that God is about to move and that this is precisely why we are getting attacked harder and with greater frequency.

Satan must be pretty nervous about what God's going to do.

Darkness. In order for our light to shine, we must not remain comfortable in the light, but place ourselves in the dark, where our light is most needed.

But at the same time, the emphasis isn't merely on "in the darkness". The emphasis is also on "your light will rise". His light will rise. His light will conquer. This is a promise. This is a promise that God's light will conquer in the darkness, where we must go so that our light shines, and shines oh so brightly.

This is a message of hope.
